Mount Manaslu (8,163 m.) is the eighth highest peak located at the border of Nepal and Tibet. This area is rich in cultural heritage and natural resources. The most liked area is still under the restricted area and only special permit holder can go for trekking. This Manaslu Larke pass trek offers the perfect views of the gigantic mountains as Mt. Manaslu and the surrounding peaks, the spectacular beauty of the villages of the Budhi Gandaki valley and the Marsyangdi Valley and the amazing biological diversity. The trail passes through the forests that provide the home to different varieties of the birds about 330 species, 3 reptiles, 33 mammals, 2000 different types of plants, etc. The biological and the geographical diversity of the region is one of the main attractions of this Manaslu Larke Pass Trekking.

Manaslu Circuit Trek starts from Arughat, reaches its highest point in Larke Pass at the elevation of 5160m (16,324 ft.). The route goes following mountain views of Ganesh Himal, Siringi Himal, Himalchuli Himal, Manaslu (8163m; the 8th tallest mountain in the world), Naike Peak, Larke Peak, Cheo Himal, Himlung Himal and Annapurna range passing through the beautiful village of Bimthang among high mountains.

The amazing journey also goes through holy sites, most remarkably the oldest ancient Buddhist monasteries, prayer wall, stupas and chortens in the region. This trekking route connects to Annapurna and Ganesh Himal sections of The Great Himalaya Trail, The eastern portion of the trek follows the Budhi Gandaki River upstream, to its source near the village of Samdo. To get there several days of up-hill hiking are required. Then the route goes over the pass, a grueling day of hiking, and back down the other side, where it meets up with the Marsyangdi River.

Trip Itinerary

Arrival at Kathmandu Airport (TIA) and our airport representative will meet you and transfer you to hotel by private car. Overnight at hotel.

Today we will collect your original passports and photos to prepare your Manaslu Special permits. Today you can visit around the Thamel if you don’t have enough Trekking gear you can buy in Thamel. Also we will introduce you with your guide.

Morning taking an interesting overland journey heading Nepal Mid-West on country and main highway as journey continues heading into low warm areas past farm villages and towns with views of snowcapped peaks. As the drive continues with few refreshing stops heading west to reach at Dhading and towards Gorkha district unto Arughat town by the raging Budi-Gandaki River. Overnight at Soti Khola.

First day walk begins from Soti-khola, where route leads into a steep valley, within densely forested areas and into number of villages to reach farm cultivated field villages and then path descends towards wide, sandy river banks following a trail that meanders below along the valley side. After a good walk of the day with last short climb on the trail to Machha Khola for overnight stop.

After breakfast the narrow trail leads few up and downs to the bank of the river and walk through the gravel bar along the bank of the Budi Gandaki River to get to the village. After that, trail leads few up and down to Jagat.

At the beginning of the day starts uphill to the rocky ridge to Salleri and descend to Setibas. The valley takes you to the suspension bridge and climb up to Philim, which is big Gurung village. After crossing the Budhi Gandaki the trail leads the west bank for a while, then cross to the east bank of the river to cross Deng Khola and continue walk to Deng village.

We cross the Budhi Gandaki after short walk from Deng and follow the north bank and then climb to Rana at 1980m. Then head west up the Budhi Gandaki valley. Cossing various streams and rivers we drop into the Sringi Valley.After few ups and downs in forests, we pass mani walls and then turn to a corner to get to Ghap and we will continue our trek to Namrung. Overnight at Namrung.

The trail leads through the shady forest which is an excellent walk where you will enjoy the natural beauty of the valley including snow Peak Mountains and peaks. A short climb to get to Shyala village and pass a large chorten we look down into a little deep where two rows of houses form the main part of Sama can be seen. At the far end of the village, overlooking the valley stands the well-known monastery of Sama. Stay overnight at Samagaon.

Today is acclimatize day which does not mean you stay at the guest house. You will be walking around the village and visit monastery which is Buddhist monastery where you can visit. You can hike up to the ridge for the views of the mountains and the village. Stay overnight at Samagaon.

Today walk leads to remote and last village of Manaslu area of Upper Gorkha region, where Samdo lies close on route to Tibet border, the native of the area have long history trading with Tibet, the trade continues till present. As walk leads with slow up with fabulous views of peaks and then reaching at Samdo village, a moderate size village with shops and stores selling many Chinese goods.

From Samdo, with the morning breakfast, we have to progress ourselves to the next destination. Watching the panoramic beauty of the surrounding around us, we have to move upto Dharmasala at the altitude of 4470m. The route is around 4 to 5 hours. We have to stay the night at the tent at Larkhe Phedi.

Early morning before the sun, we have to move forward to Bimtang from Larke Phedi. We have to follow the way that goes through Larke La pass. The Larke La pass is situated at the altitude of 5160m. We have to walk the long way for about 8 to 9 hours, but the walking time may differ according to your condition and season.

From a ridge at Bimthang, we can enjoy great views of Mt. Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal and Cheo Himal. We descend further and cross a high pasture (Sangure Kharka) followed by a bridge over Dudh Khola. We walk through rhododendron forest and follow a trail through a narrow valley until we reach the highest cultivated land of the valley at Karche, 2785 meters. We pass across fields before making a steep climb over a ridge. The trail comes off the ridge in a big, sweeping arc to the river bank at 2580m. A short distance beyond is the village of Gho. Due to yesterday’s tiredness we might take an overnight rest at Gho but better lodges are available at Tilije, so our guide recommends we stay at Tilije.

We climb over a small ridge and enjoy the stone paved trail as it passes through a beautiful village. We then cross the bridge over Dudh Khola and climb up through a chorten-shaped arch, pass a mani wall and reach the Thonje village. At the village, we go through a police checkpoint and continue to Dharapani. We have entered the Annapurna circuit section from Dharapani. When we reached to Dharapani we have lunch there and we will take Jeep to Basisar.

Today, we drive back to Kathmandu through the scenic view of the countryside and passing through headquarter of the Lamjung called Besishahar which is a starting point of Annapurna Circuit trek. We back to Kathmandu and take a rest.

Transfer you to airport for final departure or you can extend your trip by joining other adventure trips.
